• To help us evaluate some potential changes to our newsletter production, please complete our survey so we can hear what you most value in a newsletter from our chapter. This newsletter has been maintained in various forms since 2017, and we want to ensure our communications are relevant, useful, and sustainable as we look forward to a busy 2025 and beyond.

Ezra Ishman Solidarity Fund – Volunteers Needed!

• The Ezra Ishman Solidarity fund is looking for members to help administer applications. This fund was established in 2018 and distributes one-time grants up to $300 to TCDSA members. It is meant to help meet immediate material needs and is a means of mutual support among people organizing together. If you are interested in helping to review these applications, please contact Tim H at tcdsasolidarityfund@gmail.com.

Sign up for a Monthly Recurring Donation!

• Did you know that only 20% of the monthly dues you pay to DSA go to our local chapter? The rest of that money stays in National DSA’s coffers. Much of the rest of TCDSA operations are made possible by members who also make direct recurring donations to fund our office space, our events, and all our organizing work. These donations ensure that TCDSA continues to be an independent, member-run organization and ensure we can continue to build power in the Twin Cities. Can you donate $10 a month?

Labor Branch Meeting – Monday, 5/5, 7:00p – 8:30p – TCDSA Office – Zoom Registration

• The TCDSA Labor Branch meets on the 1st Monday of the month in the office and on zoom. For information about this meeting, see the #labor channel on Slack. Not on Slack? Submit tcdsa.org/slack to verify you’re on the member list.

EJ Poli Ed Group Meeting – Monday, 5/5, 7:30p – 8:30p – Zoom Registration

• This standing meeting is intended to provide structured, designated time for EJ WG members to work on upcoming political education events, and to maintain momentum and provide overarching structure/ strategy to the series of events instead of handling them on a disjointed one-by-one basis.

Queer Liberation Working Group meeting – Tuesday, 5/6, 5:00p – 6:00p – TCDSA Office – In-Person RSVP – Zoom Registration

• Meeting to plan tabling at Twin Cities Pride and People’s Pride, coordinate efforts to further queer liberation in the Twin Cities.

General Meeting Planning – Tuesday, 5/6, 5:30p – 6:30p – Zoom TBD, check the calendar

• A meeting to plan our monthly general meetings! General meetings are when our chapter meets to vote on business and give updates on the work we’re doing.

Environmental Justice Group Meeting – Tuesday, 5/6, 7:30p – 9:00p – Zoom Registration

• This is the recurring TCDSA Environmental Working Group meeting. There are campaign-specific meetings and events within the EJ group, but this is the monthly meeting for wider coordination, strategy, etc.

New Member Listwork – Wednesday, 5/7, 6:00p – 7:00p – Zoom Registration

• Join the Internal Organizing Committee for a New Member Listwork. We review new members who have signed up for 1:1s and assure there are members planning to reach out to them. Once that’s covered, we contact new members to sign-up for 1:1s.

Twin Cities Tenants Meeting – Wednesday, 5/7, 6:00p – 7:30p – TCDSA Office – Zoom Registration

• If you are currently a tenant, have rented in the past, or simply care about housing justice, join us to discuss and strategize on tenant organizing in the Twin Cities!! We will be doing this work with support from a mentor with ETOC (DSA’s Emergency Tenant Organizing Committee).

🌹 Social Club: Game Night – Wednesday, 5/7, 7:30p – 10:00p – TCDSA Office

• We’ll be gathering at the office to play party games, like Cards Against Humanity, etc. Bring games you’d like to play. I’ll be bringing Cards Against Humanity (base pack).

Electoral Committee Phonebank – Thursday, 5/8, 5:30p – 7:00p – Zoom Registration

• Join our Electoral Committee to phonebank DSA members about upcoming door knocks!

Internal Organizing: Outreach Subcommittee – Thursday, 5/8, 6:00p – 7:00p – Boneshaker Books – Zoom Registration

• The Outreach Subcommittee is tasked with community outreach within spaces that are not traditional activist or political spaces and learning how to have constructive conversations about socialism with working class people outside of the traditional leftist/activist milieu.

Palestine Solidarity Working Group – Thursday, 5/8, 7:00p – 8:00p – Zoom Registration

• Regular biweekly meeting of the TCDSA Palestine Solidarity Working Group. Join us as TCDSA organizes with allies in the community towards Palestinian liberation.

I-94 EJ Working Group – Thursday, 5/8, 8:00p – 9:00p – TCDSA Office – Zoom Registration

• HYBRID meeting!
  
  Meeting of the working group acting in coalition toward the goal of replacing the current I-94 interstate corridor with an at-grade boulevard and/or rail transit option that reconnects communities in the Twin Cities.
  
  Hybrid every other session.

🏀 Casual Pickup Basketball – Saturday, 5/10, 9:30a – 11:30a – Matthews Park

• Weekly informal basketball pickup game with comrades. All skill/experience levels welcome. Check out the basketball Slack channel for details/event confirmation each week: #socialists-play-sports-basketball

Solidarity Saturdays: Delta Workers Phone-bank – Saturday, 5/10, 10:00a – 12:00p – International Association of Machinists (IAM) Office

• DSA across the country is supporting the historic unionization drive of 18,000 Delta ramp, cargo, and tower workers. In 2023, Delta made 40% of the airline industry’s profits – more than United, American, Southwest, and Alaska combined. Despite these record profits, Delta workers are nowhere near the highest compensated in the industry in terms of pay or benefits. This is an important opportunity to support the revival of the labor movement and to support a racially diverse workforce in winning a union and more rights, which will help us fight Trump and the billionaire class.
  
  Delta workers are organizing with the International Association of Machinists (IAM), who have asked DSA for solidarity! Across the country, Delta workers, union members, DSA, and IAM staff are phone-banking Delta workers on Saturdays asking them to resign expired union authorization cards. No experience needed; phone script provided.

Street Corps Longfellow Cell: Encampment Support – Saturday, 5/10, 2:00p – 4:00p – TCDSA Office

• The Longfellow Cell of the Street Corps Working Group meets at the office weekly to perform encampment support and mutual aid.
  
  All members welcome and encouraged to join us!

Hamline/Midway Street Corps: Solidarity Sundays – Sunday, 5/11 – 4:30p – 6:30p – Location TBD

• Join our Street Corps Working Group’s Hamline/Midway Cell with outreach to and organizing of our houseless and lower income neighbors. We will be preparing and handing out food, information flyers, and talking with our neighbors about their needs.

Como/Marcy Street Corps Weekly Distro – Sunday, 5/11 – 6:00p – 9:00p – Location TBD

• Join our Street Corps Working Group’s Como/Marcy Cell with outreach to and organizing of our houseless and lower income neighbors. We will be preparing and handing out food, information flyers, and talking with our neighbors about their needs.
