This newsletter has been maintained in various forms since 2017, and we want to ensure our communications are relevant, useful, and sustainable as we look forward to a busy 2025 and beyond.

Ezra Ishman Solidarity Fund – Volunteers Needed!

• The Ezra Ishman Solidarity fund is looking for members to help administer applications. This fund was established in 2018 and distributes one-time grants up to $300 to TCDSA members. It is meant to help meet immediate material needs and is a means of mutual support among people organizing together. If you are interested in helping to review these applications, please contact Tim H at tcdsasolidarityfund@gmail.com.

Sign up for a Monthly Recurring Donation!

• Did you know that only 20% of the monthly dues you pay to DSA go to our local chapter? The rest of that money stays in National DSA’s coffers. Much of the rest of TCDSA operations are made possible by members who also make direct recurring donations to fund our office space, our events, and all our organizing work. These donations ensure that TCDSA continues to be an independent, member-run organization and ensure we can continue to build power in the Twin Cities. Can you donate $10 a month?

• A meeting to plan our monthly general meetings! General meetings are when our chapter meets to vote on business and give updates on the work we’re doing.

• Meeting of the chapter’s Electoral Committee to coordinate our support for endorsed candidates this year. All members welcome!

TCDSA Informal Spanish Conversation Practice Group – Tuesday, 4/29, 6:30p – 8:00p – Reverie Cafe + Bar

• Practice your Spanish with some comrades! We meet every other week and welcome speakers of all levels (though know that the focus is on conversation and that the sessions include no formal tutoring/teaching).

🏀 Casual Pickup Basketball – Saturday, 5/3, 9:30a – 11:30a – Matthews Park

Solidarity Saturdays: Delta Workers Phone-bank – Saturday, 5/3 – 10:00a – 12:00p – International Association of Machinists’ office 

• DSA across the country is supporting the historic unionization drive of 18,000 Delta ramp, cargo, and tower workers. In 2023, Delta made 40% of the airline industry’s profits – more than United, American, Southwest, and Alaska combined. Despite these record profits, Delta workers are nowhere near the highest compensated in the industry in terms of pay or benefits. This is an important opportunity to support the revival of the labor movement and to support a racially diverse workforce in winning a union and more rights, which will help us fight Trump and the billionaire class.
  
  Delta workers are organizing with the International Association of Machinists (IAM), who have asked DSA for solidarity! Across the country, Delta workers, union members, DSA, and IAM staff are phone-banking Delta workers on Saturdays asking them to resign expired union authorization cards. No experience needed; phone script provided.

Street Corps Longfellow Cell: Encampment Support – Saturday, 5/3 – 2:00p – 4:00p – TCDSA Office

• The Longfellow Cell of the Street Corps Working Group meets at the office weekly to perform encampment support and mutual aid.
  
  All members are welcome and encouraged to join us!
