We’ll be discussing the difference between organizing and mobilizing, grounding the practice of holding 1:1 conversations in a few philosophical principles, outlining a structural framework for these conversations, and providing an overview of how to schedule and track new member 1:1s. The focus will be on how experienced members can welcome new members into Twin Cities DSA, but the training is flexible and can be effective in a variety of situations, including union organizing, electoral organizing, tenant organizing and broad community outreach.

Last year, the Minneapolis City Council unanimously passed a resolution urging the MN Department of Transportation (MnDOT) to continue to study the conversion of I-94 into an at-grade boulevard.

After avoiding public engagement for months, MnDOT is visiting the Minneapolis City Council to explain why they would rather keep a highway that pollutes our cities and contributes majorly to climate change.

Join us at the Climate and Infrastructure Committee to stand with the City Council and insist that MnDOT continue to study all of the options for the future of the I-94 corridor.

In October 2023, the City of Minneapolis contracted Israeli tech company ZenCity to use “existing ad networks to deliver anonymous, hyper-local community surveys” to poll Minneapolis residents on their opinion of the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD). This means that ZenCity taps into the existing algorithms used by platforms such as Meta, Google, and X to target recipients of a survey. This is a 3-year, $500,000 contract using taxpayer money from the police budget. On Monday, March 3rd at 1:30 pm, ZenCity and MPD will give a presentation to the City Council in an open-door session. They will be presenting on the data gathered and answering questions from City Council Members. The public is welcome! Pack the room! Come share how you feel about ZenCity!

There will not be an opportunity for public comment/questions but you can let your CM know your questions for ZenCity in advance and demand they ask your questions.

This event explores resistance movements against colonialism and imperialism, analyzing historical and contemporary struggles. We’ll discuss revolutionary strategies, the role of mass movements, and critiques of reformism, using case studies from Palestine, Turtle Island, Ireland, and South Africa.

DSA across the country is supporting the historic unionization drive of 18,000 Delta ramp, cargo, and tower workers. In 2023, Delta made 40% of the airline industry’s profits – more than United, American, Southwest, and Alaska combined. Despite these record profits, Delta workers are nowhere near the highest compensated in the industry in terms of pay or benefits. This is an important opportunity to support the revival of the labor movement and to support a racially diverse workforce in winning a union and more rights, which will help us fight Trump and the billionaire class.

Delta workers are organizing with the International Association of Machinists (IAM), who have asked DSA for solidarity! Across the country, Delta workers, union members, DSA, and IAM staff are phone-banking Delta workers on Saturdays asking them to resign expired union authorization cards. No experience needed; phone script provided.

DSA across the country is supporting the historic unionization drive of 18,000 Delta ramp, cargo, and tower workers. In 2023, Delta made 40% of the airline industry’s profits – more than United, American, Southwest, and Alaska combined. Despite these record profits, Delta workers are nowhere near the highest compensated in the industry in terms of pay or benefits. This is an important opportunity to support the revival of the labor movement and to support a racially diverse workforce in winning a union and more rights, which will help us fight Trump and the billionaire class.

Delta workers are organizing with the International Association of Machinists (IAM), who have asked DSA for solidarity! Across the country, Delta workers, union members, DSA, and IAM staff are phone-banking Delta workers on Saturdays asking them to resign expired union authorization cards. No experience needed; phone script provided.

This event is going to be a Cyber and Legal behavior and security training and workshop. I will provide education for these topics with concrete examples with, to some degree, interactive content. This includes us practicing this and discussions on what the best practices will be. I could definitely lead this alone, but the more collaborative, the more ethical and effective we and this protocol will be.

All Twin Cities DSA members and supporters who live in Hennepin County are invited to join us for an informational session and organizing meeting on closing the HERC trash burner.

This event is especially geared towards TCDSAers who live in the suburbs of Hennepin County to build solidarity and strength amongst suburban socialists in opposition to the environmental racism and injustice the HERC represents. Come to learn more about the history of the HERC closure campaign and get connected to future organizing. No prior organizing experience is required.

This event will have a virtual attendance option, in addition to the in-person meeting. We are strongly encouraging folks to attend in-person at the Twin Cities DSA office, if possible.
