The membership of the Twin Cities Democratic Socialists of America has voted to endorse Sonia Neculescu in the special election for MN House 60A. The DFL primary is on January 21st and early voting is available now. Find your polling place at https://pollfinder.sos.state.mn.us/.

Sonia is a working class resident of Northeast Minneapolis. She’s a first-generation immigrant, renter, community organizer, and proud democratic socialist. In 2015, as a college student, she co-founded Women for Political Change (WFPC) a multiracial, youth-led organization that holistically invests in the leadership and political power of young women and trans & non-binary folks in Minnesota.

In our endorsement meeting, Sonia spoke to her personal journey as a young woman struggling with the high cost of rent, precarious minimum-wage work, and a for-profit healthcare system. She is championing a radical platform that includes overturning the state ban on rent control, decriminalizing sex work, and a $15 minimum wage statewide. Working people in Northeast Minneapolis have an opportunity in the next month to elect a democratic socialist to the Minnesota House of Representatives. The Twin Cities Democratic Socialists of America endorses Sonia Neculescu for MN House 60A as we fight together against oppression and for the working class.
