2023 DSA National Convention Delegate Election

The DSA National Convention is held every other year, and is the highest decision-making body of the organization. Delegates from across the country will meet to set our course for the next two years and elect our new National Political Committee (NPC), which functions as DSA’s highest decision-making body between conventions. This is the first in-person convention since 2019, and will also have opportunities for workshops, presentations, and interacting with comrades from across the country.

Anyone who wants to run to be a Delegate to the DSA National Convention should submit the Delegate Nominations form. We will also take nominations at the May 7 General Meeting. Anyone with questions about what happens at convention or what delegates do can ask questions or connect directly with a past delegate in the #convention-discussion channel on slack.

  • The deadline for nominations is Sunday, May 19th at 11:59pm
  • Any active dues-paying member of TCDSA is eligible to run
  • Twin Cities DSA can elect 22 delegates and 2 alternates to the convention.
  • If we have enough candidates for a competitive election, we will use OpaVote. Voting will begin May 20th and end at 11:59p May 26th.

Special Leadership Election

The following position will be up for election:

  • Member At-Large

Steering Committee At-Large members serve as representatives of the interests of the chapter’s general membership. They assist with internal organizing and connecting with members, as well as assisting the Steering Committee to plan our regular chapter meetings. Anyone who wants to run for the At-large position should by submit the At-Large Nominations form. We will also take nominations at the May 7 General Meeting.

  • The deadline for nominations is Sunday, May 7th at 11:59pm
  • Any active dues-paying member of TCDSA is eligible to run
  • If we have enough candidates for a competitive election, we will use OpaVote. Voting will begin May 20th and end at 11:59p May 26th.

Voting & Eligibility

You can attend convention regardless of membership status. To vote on leadership, or to run for at-large or delegate, you’ll need to be a member. We will use OpaVote to vote asynchronously if quorum is not met.

To join or renew your membership, go to dsausa.org/join. To learn how to join or renew without paying member dues, see the dues waiver page here.
